Surrealism assignment

For this new assignment I have had to face one of my biggest fears: Letting go! I basically had to draw without thinking about what I was doing. Being that I am a bit of a control freak (Specially when it comes to drawing), I really struggled with it. Finally I figured out that the only way in which I would be able not to plan ahead, would be if I were following someone else's instructions. In this case, the "someone else" was "watercolor". I doodled with different colors and textures and then drew on top whatever pattern I could find once the water was dry. Those little sketches are what came out of it.


En este nuevo ejercicio he tenido que enfrentarme a uno de mis mayores miedos: dejarme llevar! Básicamente tenía que dibujar sin pensar en lo que estaba haciendo. Teniendo en cuenta que soy la reina del control (sobre todo cuando se trata de dibujar), me ha dado muchos problemas. Finalmente me di cuenta de que el único modo en el que podría no planear lo que hacía de entemano, sería si seguía las instrucciones de otro. En este caso, este "otro" han sido "las acuarelas". Garababteé con colores y texturas diferentes y luego dibujé los patrones que pude ver cuando el agua se secó. Estos pequeños bocetos son lo que pude sacar.







Then I was able to go to my usual control freakness and overdo every detail of the final work. I used the same palette from the sketch, but gave it a new and louder twist.

Entonces pude volver a mi habitual control y obsesionarme con cada detalle del trabajo final. Utilicé la misma paleta que en el boceto, pero le di un giro nuevo y más llamativo.
